Las Cruces to Join Nation For “America’s Night Out Against Crime”

The City of Las Cruces proudly presents National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” on Tuesday August 3rd from 6 – 9 p.m. at the south end of the Downtown Mall. Bring the whole family for a free event filled with games, entertainment and giveaways. It’s a chance to spend an evening outdoors with neighbors and members of local law enforcement agencies and the Las Cruces Fire Department.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized to fight back.

In all, nearly 40-million people in nearly 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world are expected to participate in this year’s “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” On that night, residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with neighbors and police.
