Press Release
News around the Las Cruces Area.
Date: Sunday, September 07, 2008 At 01:00:00 AM
Duration:
Repeat Event: Repeat every 3 Days until October 13, 2008

Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima is accepting nominations for his ‘Mayor’s Distinguished Service Award.’ The award is presented on a quarterly basis to an individual, business or organization whose efforts resulted in an exceptional impact to the Las Cruces Community.

Award recipients will be recognized at a regular meeting of the Las Cruces City Council, and will be featured in the City of Las Cruces’ quarterly citizen newsletter, the Community Connection. Recipients will also receive a specially designed plaque and decal for display.

The first recipient was the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum for accommodating firefighters who battled the Organ Mountain Fire in June.

“There are many, many outstanding and deserving people and businesses in the area that positively impact our community,” said Mayor Ken Miyagishima. “I am genuinely grateful for those contributions, and believe it’s important that they be recognized, that’s why I initiated the Mayor’s Distinguished Service Award.”

Miyagishima said any person, business or organization is eligible to receive the award, as long as the community contribution is distinguishable.

Nominees do not have to be residents of the city, but the contribution must be directly tied to Las Cruces.

Nomination forms and instructions are available by clicking on the Mayor’s Distinguished Service Award icon located on the home page of the City of Las Cruces web site at www.las-cruces.org.

The deadline to submit nominations for the next quarterly award is October 13th, 2008. The award will be presented on November 3rd, 2008.
