La Viña Winery

The winery provides state-of-the-art winemaking facilities and a tasting room as well as grounds and patio suitable for weddings, picnics, or any special event. La Viña hosts a Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp each year in October and a Blues & Jazz Festival in April, as well as an old fashioned country picnic and open house on July 4th. Open Thursday – Tuesday 12pm – 5pm (closed Wednesday).

National and State Parks

White SandsWhite Sands National Monument

Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of the Southern New Mexico desert and created the world's largest gypsum dune field. Open daily, except Christmas Day.

Aguirre Springs National Recreation Site

Hiking, camping, horseback riding, picnicking, watchable wildlife. Seasonal springs and streams occur in the canyon bottoms, with a few perennial springs that support riparian habitats.

Asombro InstituteAsombro Institute for Science Education (formerly the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park)

Located in the northern Chihuahuan Desert, the 960-acre Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park site is a topographically and biologically diverse example of this beautiful desert. The Nature Park encompasses a small section of the Doña Ana Mountains northeast of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Spectacular views of the Organ Mountains, San Andres Mountains and the Jornada Basin are also visible from the Park. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00am – 5:00pm.

From I-25 in Las Cruces, go east on Hwy 70, take Mesa Grande Dr, make u-turn under highway to head west, north on Jornada Rd. for 6.5 miles, turn left at Chihuahuan Park sign.

Dripping Springs Natural Area

Over four miles of easy hiking trails, including the Dripping Springs Trail, which shows off desert scrub and low elevation pinon-juniper and oak woodlands. The area also boasts excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Leasburg Dam State Park

Offers camping, picnicking and bird watching. From mid-March to mid-October the park offers fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

La Cueva Cave

An archeological site located at the foot of the Organ Mountains near Dripping Springs and the Cox Visitor Center. The shelter was occupied from almost 5,000 BC through the historic period that followed the arrival of the Europeans.
